What should I expect during the initial visit?

The initial visit will typically last around 60-90 minutes.  In order to have a complete consultation, we request that you complete your new patient forms prior to arrival. If it is not possible for you to complete your forms in advance, please email Dr. Sethi prior to the appointment time. The forms can be brought with you to your visit or filled out directly on the patient portal.  This also allows Dr. Sethi to review them prior to your visit.

If intake forms were submitted at least 48 hours prior to the appointment, Dr. Sethi will have reviewed these and will be ready to discuss them and address current issues and recommendations.  If intake forms were not submitted with enough time for Dr. Sethi to review them, some time will be spent during the visit for her to adequately read through the forms before discussing them.

Does Dr. Sethi take health insurance?

Dr. Sethi believes in offering in-depth integrative consultations that take time.  Unfortunately our current insurance model does not support this kind of commitment to the patient.  She has chosen to opt-out of the current insurance model and does not take insurance.   She will provide appropriate superbills and forms that can be submitted by the patient to insurance providers for reimbursement.   Her practice is also ideal for those with high deductibles or Medical Savings Plans (MSA) or Health Savings Plan (HSA), as she offers discounted labs and supplements through special vendor relationships.

What are the office hours?

Office hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00AM-4:00 PM.  Available appointments will be listed in the online booking service.

Will my medical insurance pay for lab testing?

In most cases, for standard labs, your insurance can be billed for the lab testing. The practice uses Quest Diagnostics and Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) for insurance reimbursable lab testings. Many routine lab tests are offered at a discounted rate for cash through CPL.  Other laboratory testing may or may not be reimbursable by your insurance company. These will be determined on an individual basis.

Will Dr. Sethi be my primary care physician?

What is Integrative Medicine?

Integrative medicine is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative.

The principles of integrative medicine:

  • A partnership between patient and practitioner in the healing process
  • Appropriate use of conventional and alternative methods to facilitate the body's innate healing response
  • Consideration of all factors that influence health, wellness and disease, including mind, spirit and community as well as body
  • A philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically
  • Recognition that good medicine should be based in good science, be inquiry driven, and be open to new paradigms
  • Use of natural, effective, less-invasive interventions whenever possible
  • Use of the broader concepts of promotion of health and the prevention of illness as well as the treatment of disease
  • Training of practitioners to be models of health and healing, committed to the process of self-exploration and self-development

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engages both patient and practitioner in a partnership.  Functional medicine looks at interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease.  See more at https://www.functionalmedicine.org/What_is_Functional_Medicine/AboutFM/
